I have been thinking about one of these.

Anyone ever use one, and did you like it. If I get one I would convert the smoker box to a gas grill for quick stuff.

I've used one exactly like that at a friends house several times. Worked great.

$3,050:eek1: Fock that! I could get the one I was looking at for like $170 at Home Depot. I would rather save My money for steaks.

I bought one from Home Depot. It works excellent. I use a piece of heavy mesh in the smoker compartment, set charcoal on it for the regular stuff like burgers. As a smoker, it cooks ribs that just fall off the bone, or pull an all nighter with some friends and smoke a turkey.

The reason I want one is so I could convert the smoker to a gas grill. Then I would have a charcoal and a gas grill all in one. I really have no use for a smoker since neither Me or my Wife really care for the taste of it. I prefer my ribs grilled with lots of sauce.

IF you're not going to use a smoker I would suggest getting one without the offset firebox, you'll like a straight grill unit much better and you can get one for about the same price. It will be more versatile for grilling too, adjustable height grate, ash drawer etc.

Wha, wait, don't like smoked meat!!?? what the HELL!??

I say 'bah' on grilling with propane, charcoal and wood chunks are the only way to go, IMO. That's where the flavor is. My Weber kettle grill is great.

To Me the only thing that sould be smoked is salmon or steelhead. IMO ribs just get focked up when their smoked. I like to have a gas grill around when I just want to do some quick burgers or hot dogs.
