Take a grinder and grind/ cut the head off. Make sure you cover EVERYTHING inside. The sparks will pit glass, and burn up your interior, not to mention just makin a HUGE mess.

that would work but I don't want to destroy the trim in the process if I can help it. might not be any option though, huh?

I had the front one on the driver side do that to me. It was a couple of years ago, I think I either pulled the interior panel off and went from underneath and held the nut, or I wedged a screwdriver in the top. Been so long I can't remember, I do remember opening up the side panel though. I just never stuck that bolt back in.

Try a cut off wheel instead.

I had one do that on me. Real booger to grab that captive nut. Get you some BP Blaster. Awsome stuff. Pull the inner pannel loose so you can get at it and soak it down. If possible you want to get it off in one peice and not chew up to bolt and captive nut arrangment. Give it another shot after it soakes for a couple hours.

I'd probley drill it out. Just drill right down the center of the head of the bolt. That should weeken it enough to snap the head off with a wrench, should be able to do it without cousing any damage to the trim rail, or bed rail. That's just my thoughts

Yeah I had one do that too. I just pulled the side panel off enough to get my hand in there and held the captured nut with vice grips. A healthy dose of PB blaster doesn't hurt either.

Same here, just held it from underneath with vice-grips. Very frustrating, especially when it's 110 degrees outside!

If you do mangle the trim.....................I have an extra set of the chrome trim for both sides. Come to think of it....I think that was the only chrome that I have in the Blazer.
