no, it's not mine, and yes it's a ford. But I dont think i've ever seen a true fullsize flex out like this. What do you guys think about extended shackles like he's running? good or bad for a mainly trail rig?

    Re: Wanna see some FLEX?

I was gonna post that too... awesome flex... i checked out his site, but the pics link didn't work. I saw that post a few hours ago, he has 7" front and 10" rear shackles right? I think they're good for a trail only rig.. too long for a street/trail truck. It looks like those shackles were easy to make.

    Re: Wanna see some FLEX?

    Heh, my fame is growing...
it's still under construction, dunno how it's going to end up, actully going to have to limit a bit of the uptravel in the front, steering linkage is rubbing the frame too much. I do agree, these shackles aren't something you want to drive much on the street, even once they're done. The angle on the front shackles is going to make it interesting during braking (ever see how much a monster truck nosedives when stopping fast?) But I'm happy so far...
And all you Chevy guys can claim a little credit here, all that twist in the rear is from stock 88up 63" K1500 rear springs

oh yea, & my website sucks 'cause I've been working on building the truck too much...

Or, as one ford owner put it (had it on his bumper) "Built Ford tough with Chevy stuff." 'Nuff said.

    Re: Wanna see some FLEX?

That is kinda cool to watch. I wouldn't have any need for all that flex, but it's still cool.

But in my opinion, what for? I'm not all that interested in articulation....any straight axled rig has enough for me.

Is that thing coil sprung up front?

    Re: Wanna see some FLEX?

Nice flex!!!, now the real challenge is to be able to drive up on something that high while maintaining functioning driveshafts, shocks, and steering. Any realistic solutions to that and you will be my god. [IMG] My shackels in the front are somewhere around 10" long. The thing twists like a pretzel! But handling has been decreased harecore. As is every situation you must compromise. So far braking is the only thing I need to pay a lot more attention to. Hopeing disc rear will help that.

    You call that dirty!?

    Re: Wanna see some FLEX?

What is the problem with the brakeing with the longer shackles? Not enuff resistance too nosediveing, Too soft spring rate?

My front shacles are 1" longer, and kicked back (the way they should be) 20 deg.- Anyone seeing a problem with that?

    Twiztid

Is the above question, poor "netiquette"???

    Re: Wanna see some FLEX?

My buddy who has those 46" Firestones that I had on Brown Turd once, has a 77 ext. cab short bed. He has K30 axles under it and it mates to an International Harvester divorced NP205 t-case. Everything else is all Ford. I will have to get some pics scanned and posted on here for everybody to view. BTW, the bottoms of the doors on his truck are almost to the top of those big Firestones!!! heh, yeah, she's got HEI on her too

84 Chevy: no, it's all leaf

mpascino: I know what your saying, driveshafts are no problem, rear shocks are easy, front might be a little tricky, but the steering IS where most of my thinking is going right now... what I have will work, but I'm trying to think of something that will work better

Twiztid: Something about soft springs & long angled shackles seems to like to make the front end dive on hard braking... it might be a problem & it might not, I've seen a few people get away with it without problems
