My 8274 let me down yet again today. They say they are a super winch, but this one is pathetic. As soon as it starts to really get loaded down, it stalls out and draws big time from the battery. I cant winch my self out of anything anymore. It seems to be getting steadily worse. What would be a good part of it to start checking out? The motor? The relay pack? The gear set? I am suspecting the motor but wanted to ask the pros! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Guess I better check out Warn website and price out some stuff.

you might also want to get a good snatchblock /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Actually, I have tried a snatch block. The winch even stalls out with it before it hardly moves me. Thats why I suspect the motor. But need a starting point.

The last time I used my 8274 on my Orange Blazer, it was acting similar to what you described. I had to pull out two trucks, and on the 2nd truck, it acted like it wasnt even pulling. It would pull for about 3 seconds, then bog down and draw a bunch of juice. If I let it sit for about 30 seconds, I could get another 3 seconds of pulling, and so on...

Havent used it or touched it since. Been to busy to mess with it.

I was kind of wondering what was wrong with it myself. Tired, worn out motor? It didnt seem like it was overheated or too hot at the time. It was working great the day before. Used it to pull out 4 rigs in 2 days.

If your bat and alt are good, its the motor. Check the charging system if you haven't already.
