The anti-gun folks are at it again, this time warning tourists that Florida residents are trigger happy nuts, and they shouldn't argue with them.

"Thinking about a Florida vacation? Please ensure your family is safe. In Florida, avoid disputes. Use special caution in arguing with motorists on Florida roads."

The Brady Campaign - named after Jim Brady, the spokesman for Ronald Reagan who was paralysed by a gunshot during the 1981 assassination attempt on the then-president - promises to also run adverts in French, German and Japanese newspapers. The campaign officers also plan to hand out leaflets on roads leading into the state.

Peter Hamm, the communications director of the Brady Campaign, said: "It's a particular risk faced by travellers coming to Florida for a vacation because they have no idea it's going to be the law of the land. If they get into a road rage argument, the other person may feel he has the right to use deadly force."

    That's freaking BS.
Do they have ANY statistics to back up their implication that Florida is now going to be dangerous to tourists? NO, just freaking "scary" tactics. The Brady Campaign is going the way of PETA.

This just flat out pisses me off. It's deceptive, it preys on the weak minded and poorly educated, and it's intended to (economically) hurt someone (the state) just because they didn't do what the Brady Campaign wanted.

Can't the state somehow bring up charges against this group? Something along the lines of libel/slander/Defamation of Character?

That's the stupidest g/damn thing I've ever seen  Something like 60% of all Montanans own multiple guns and it doesn't seem to bother any of our dumbass tourists.

Brady went the way of PETA long ago, their tactics are just as despicable. The bottom line is that they want to portray all of us gun owners as rabid, violent out of control cowboy throwbacks in order to demonize us in the eyes of Europeans and our fellow Americans. You will never hear them admit to a gun being used in a positive manner, and you can't get through to these idiots either, guns are bad, period.

I read the new law in detail, and figured that this would come up here. My opinion is simply that the criminals know now that they had better be careful, because citizens might shoot back.

I have no idea how it would impact tourism unless the "tourist" was doing something extremely stupid and needed to be shot anyway. Some people just need killing.

Yeah, but 99.95% of the time a good old fashioned ass beating will suffice.

I agree completely, but if they are coming into my house or pose a threat of harm to my family, I don't know that I would stop to decide. Besides, if you multiply the population of Fla. by .05% you will still need a lot of ammo. :D

I won't shoot any of these people unless they are doing something to bother us normal kind of people. As long as others act right they have no problem about us toting a gun.

Yeah, what's the problem? Free advertising for those who pack!

I mean, seriously, you'd think the crime rate would drop -- I say let them distribute the flyers!

The ati gun movement people try and change minds in a mass and dishonest way. True men, those who carry, they change minds, and lives, one at a time, and honestly
