I went to go buy a new thermostat tonight and I also bought a chrome water neck. The one on my truck now is not painted the right color and its old and nasty. Problem is the neck of the new one is facing straight ahead to the front of the truck. The older water neck on the truck points farther over to the drivers side. So the hose won't match up right with the chrome water neck. I really don't think they make any aftermarket neck with a turn like I need. Do you suppose I can find another upper radiator hose that matches up better? Or should I just return the chrome one and repaint the old one???

You could use a flex hose, or if you really want to keep your original molded hose, Summit Racing sells a swivel thermostat housing in chrome, or any color you want anodized aluminum. http://www.summitracing.com

Are those flex hoses as strong as the molded ones?

you should be able do get a chrome water neck the comes off at an angle to match your old one, i have one on my 73 right now, i got it from pep boys, its a MR. gasket brand and i think it cost me around $10. they would probably have them at any parts store, the one you got is probably for a 60's chevy

I've used them with no problems - One thing to make sure is that you use good, preferably new hose clamps.

Look around, you can find a chrome one with the correct outlet. They are everywhere.

I am sure you can find the right one for that... Also, Summit sells ones that rotate to the angle you want!

You can get one with the correct angle - I got one from Kragen. Just make them look in their book...

Thanks for the help everyone. I just went down and found the angled kind like I needed. It was there the whole time, I just didn't see it yesterday.

Try a radiator hose for an Olds, say a 1985 Olds Cutlass Supreme, V8 307 (5 liter) They have forward facing water necks. Easier than replacing the housing and gasket again lol Actually it may be way too short, but couldn't hurt, you can always return it.
