The following was posted before but some of you missed it especially Steve. We can't let those sheep heads beat us.

I sent Top 4X4 sites an email concerning cheating auto votes. Here is a paste/copy of my letter and the reply.

ramchargercentral.com uses auto voting for their
>members. They have a box that they check that
>automatically votes for them every time the login. Is
>this a violation of the rules? If not then it should
>be known to the others so that they can do this too.
His reply:
I thought about that one for quite a while and finally determined that
it fell within the rules. Basically it's no different than having each
member set their homepage to the voting script, which would vote every
time they start their browser. (Well, it would really only vote once
per 48hrs. Any extra votes would be ignored)

So yes, you can tell your site webmaster that they can set up something
like that if they want. But it needs to be set up so that each member
has to decide for themselves and then select some setting so that they
vote. It can't be a default for all members. Also, the members need to
understand that they'll be voting for your site. Your members will
probably already know that, but just be sure it's clear in the area where
they select whether they want to "auto" vote or not.

Also, when you pop up the Top4x4Sites window it must be a real browser
window. (i.e. you can't disable the scroll bars or menu bar or make the
window smaller, etc.)

Email me if you have more questions.

this would be nice and make it easier but like Jon said, I have my home page set to vote for ck5 every time i open my browser and then i click on ck5 for the out vote and to the home page. May sound like a pain but its real easy to do!

Re: Hey Steve check this out! We can beat the Sheepheads at their own game

yes but your doing it the wrong way,,that just gives us an out vote,,it does not move us from first or second place,,the only vote that moves your ranking is the " in " vote,,coming from CK5 to top4x4's.
so come here FIRST ,,then click " vote " other wise,,it's kinda wasted. we get a larger total of votes,,but our rank would never move if we all did that

we could be in last place with 500 votes going out, and 24,000 total,,and we'd never move form there,,they'd still be beating us,,like they are now [IMG]

Re: Hey Steve check this out! We can beat the Sheepheads at their own game

Hi k5king, i think you misunderstood, if you put coloradok5 voting link in as your home page, it registers as a vote.
the word colorado at the end of the link addy is the way in which the vote is registered.
then to get to coloradok5.com he clicks onto the link on the 4x4topsites page, get it?

if you want to change your homepage to coloradok5's voting addy, do as follows:click on >>my computer, then >>control panel, then >>internet options, you will see there it says "home page" in the "address" area, type http://top4x4sites.com/cgi-bin/arp/rankem.cgi?id=colorado

now everytime you open your browser it will take you to top4x4sites and will register as a vote for ck5. :)
any questions????

Theres no replacement for displacement!

Well I set my home page to do this, but I'd still like to see an auto vote option. Those Sheepheads are still 31 votes ahead.

We're up by one vote now! I think the auto vote would be a good idea, since some of our members would like to vote, but don't want to spend the time, or just forget. Let's show 'em who is really number 1!

Nonesuch is doing it correctly...here's an explanation direct from Top4X4 Sites:

What do the "In" and "Out" columns mean?
"In month" is the number of votes (or hits) your site has sent to Top4x4Sites during the current month. This is the number that determines the rankings.

"Out month" is the number of times people have gone to your site from Top4x4Sites. This does not affect the ranking at all. It simply tells you how much reciprocal traffic your site is getting back.

"In total" and "Out total" are the total number of votes (or hits) your site has recieved since signing up. Again, this is simply for reference and does not affect your rank.

I don't know if it's the auto vote thing or not, but they are pulling ahead fast! They weren't getting that many votes until we started beating them.

i went over to the sheepheads site the other day and noticed that they only have a little over 2000 members! Come on everyone we have over 4000 and less than half of us are voting!

Voting helps bring more traffic to this site by keeping us in the number one spot on the top4x4 list. More traffic means more revenue for Steve and that means the site stays on the net, server upgrades, and bigger giveaways! ColoradoK5.com (click to vote!!!)

if you want to keep those other 2000+ of us who do not remember to vote reminded, just put a post at the top of each forum that says vote in big bold CAPS letters. That will remind me!
