    I have a family friend whos getting screwed. She has this company hosting her http://www.advancedmedia.com/ and they are 2 arabic men whom she has trouble understanding and they dont have any customer service. Anyway she has poured the last 10 years of her life into her business http://www.banditos-usa.com . I want to make her a website identical to the one she has now. But we arent getting help from the current host. I know FTP and website work, but never worked with a shopping cart. Does anyone have any shopping cart software that would do what I need? Heres the one I decided on, http://www.quikstore.com/index.html but I dont want her to pay $200 if its not going to work. I'm getting the run around while trying to get the FTP # and password, we asked for it and this is the info we got back:
    =====================
    Media Folder Access:
    ftp://ftp.secure-data-center.com/

    username:XXXXX
    password:XXXXX
    ==============================
    Thats it, anyway does anyone know how to find the IP number we need and maybe how to log into the FTP with just the number and password I already have. Thanks a million CK5ers. :)

    Often your username and password can determine what you get access to at login to the ftp server, so they can assign everyone one ftp servername, but unique usernames. In that case, you shouldn't need the ftp server's IP (and it probably wouldn't be helpful anyway).

    If you're looking to her change hosting service, I think my hosting service includes shopping cart software, and their tech support has been kickarse. There's actually a ton of stuff included in the plans, I've barely gotten around to checking out half of it.
    Check out http://www.lunarpages.com/. The plans are cheap, I'm paying like $7 a month for 1gb storage and 4-gb bandwidth, plus I have two domains parked there that both point back to the plan/domain they're hosting.
    If you want to sign up for it, I'll get you a referral link so I can profit, too :grin: .

    I use godaddy to host both websites i run.

    www.TheGourmetGal.com
    ...Going through an overhaul as we speak. The current layout sucks.

    Broken Trucks
    ...Work in progress.

    Both hosting plans are $9.95 Mo, 2Gb storage/100Gb transfer

    I have used them for over a year and have only had about 20Min of down time on The Gourmet Gal site.

    As far as designing the site i would suggest dreamweaver. You can get the hwole site from the current ftp if you have the PW then re-upload it to your new host. I can help with most issues in DW if needed. The shopping cart i am not sure of though.
