How much do stock 80's Diesel Blazers weigh? Mine weighed in at 5400 lbs the other day on the scales at a local truck stop. Seems kind of heavy to me.

Mine weighs 5800 with all accessories with me like Winch, chains, straps, Hi-Lift, 35" spare, "Boonie Box", etc...

I think your weight is correct. I need to put my beast on a diet!

Ahh you bunch of lightweights. My 79 with full trail gear full tank, 12 gallons of water, 5 gallon Jerry of fuel and suplies for camping for 5 days, me (210lb), the wife (90lb), and the Kid (40lb) popped off 6110 lb :) Now that that truck is off trail duty with no gear stored in it all the time I figure it's rolling about 5400 lb. Its fully loaded.
My 75 I haven't weighed but it has some serious steel in it so I'm guessing about 5600 lb ready to wheel with the hard top on. 5400 top off. The truck has no interior except seats, door pannels and dash.
    Both trucks are 350,TH350, NP203, 12 rear, D44 front on the 75 10 on the 79.

Your weight sounds about right to me. In full trail trim (hi lift, 10 gallons of water, full gas tank, 5 gallons extra gas, tools, misc spare parts, etc) my truck weighs 5350 with me in it.

The spec. section from the main CK5 page say that 1981 was the lightest at 4087lbs. compared to 1989 weighing in at 4878lbs.It doesn't specify any differences for different motors though.I guess that means i've got a light weight K5 since it's an 81.Of course my tires do weigh 82lbs. a piece +the 15x12 steel rims and trail stock for breakdowns.I might have to break down and get it weighed now.

O.k. you saw my rig, that was almost in full trail trim. When I went to Tellico last October, it weighed 6200 lbs with just me and a half tank of gas in it!

Keep in mind the weights in the spec section at CK5 are for bone stock K5's that means a 6cyl motor, no hard top and no options, your weight may vairy. [IMG]

Thanks for the replys. 5400 sounded heavy for a Blazer after I read in Autoweek that a new Suburban has a curb weight of only 5100 lbs.

i thought that after i cut the roof off and got rid of the tailgate and carpet my rig would be amazingly light for a k5, but after the cage and custom bumpers, lift and tires im almost right back where i started @....4840lbs. thats dry with noone in it.
