Well I have heard of Primus and thats it of what you listed. I wasnt overly impressed either.

How 'bout Dread Zepplin? They were a Zep cover band that ws just out there.

I used to work w/ a guy a few yrs ago that listened to all sorts of underground stuff. Most was crap IMO.

I thought I was the only one that heard of Dread Zepplin. Their reggae version of Stairway To Heaven is great.

I dont think I heard the reggae version. What little I heard was too far out there for me. LOL! Maybe if I liked Zepplin it would have helped.

[/ QUOTE ] They are now. But in the 80s there was nothing better than Metallica. Thats why I said early Metallica.

I'm starting to get into Soil right now, but as for weird, probably the Pat Boone album where he does all of those old hard rock covers: GnR- Paradise City, Ozzy-Crazy Train, Mettalica- Enter Sandman.
I'm also really into Apocalyptica, the cello quartet that plays heavy Metal /forums/images/icons/cool.gif Maybe a little Tenacious D. Good stuff like that /forums/images/icons/grin.gif

Yes, Les Claypool rocks. Have you checked out his latest projects?
Oysterhead (w/ Trey Anastasio (Phish) and Stewart Copeland (Police)) is pretty cool. I wish they would have blended all that talent into one particular sound/style. It almost sounds like a compilation of Primus and Phish songs (yeah I know, go figure) - point being, you can tell who wrote what.
The Fearless Flying Frog Brigade stuff is awesome too. They do original stuff and covers (Pink Floyd, etc.) I missed seeing them in Vegas and found out about the show here at the last minute so I missed that too. Damn!

And as mentioned above, Tenacious D (the greatest band in the world /forums/images/icons/wink.gif ) rules!

Jeeezis! Dread Zeppelin. I saw them about 15 yrs ago! They were a freaking blast!!! Elvis Tortelvis. I forget the rest of the bands names. Has anyone ever seen the Heart Breaker Hotel video??????????????? It's funny as hell. "Elvis" gets hit by an ice cream truck, gets picked up in an old beat up pinto thats driven by the "under the butt nuthut" underwear and the skimask wearing bass player and the rest of the band and he transforms into Elvis Tortelvis. Are they still around?
