i need advise on welding my front axle. i am thinking about trying the idea from the 14 bolt in between the gears and i want to know what you guys think of it. keep in mind that i don't drive my truck on asphalt unless i am putting it on my trailer and yes, it is a trailer queen. any feedback would be appreciated.

Don't, unless you really enjoy changing ujoints and axle shafts.

It would be asking for trouble. Broken parts.

Try it. If you weld the gears like you're saying, and you break a shaft the first day out, you can still slap in a Lock Right or even a new set of junkyard spiders....unless you break the carrier, and I doubt that will happen.

Do you have manual hubs? don't do it if you have auto hubs.

    Let us know what happens!

Iv'e been running welded fronts ( 10 bolt & d44) for 3 years now. Only busted 1 axle so far and that was caused by a u joint spitting out a cap.
We have a guy in our club that just broke a moser axle with a lockrite in the front.(1st run with the mosers)

Welding the spider gears won't cause any more breakage than any other type of locker, so I don't understand why everybody says it will. The only thing I would be concerned about breaking was due to the welds.

Yeah, and myself, would be very cautious of putting a lotcker in the front 10 bolt too.

But, I am finding out my wheeling is differant than a lot of people on this board.
