welded 208, would it really be such a bad idea?

    In lou of having a gear redux kit for a 205, and the extra $$ for an atlas, and having a couple 208's at my disposal, would it really be such a bad idea to weld the slip yoke into the driving gear so that it couldn't "slip" anymore? Then put a telescoping shaft on it like you would for a fixed yoke system. Unless someone shows up with an undeniable "you dumbass" I am thinking about giving this a try.

    You want to weld onto the heat treated/hardened output shaft? On the output end no less...should last for a couple of minutes at least./forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
