.030 would be best. If you were welding thicker material the .035 or even .045 would be better, and your machine has the jam to run it.

    I have a MM210.
    Using .030 wire exclusively.
It's fine for up to 5/16" and workable for 3/8" if you have the hand for it.

.035 for .120 wall is over kill.

I like .030 becauase you can still weld sheetmetal without blowing it all over the place.

.030 definately! I've had much better luck with .030 and it seems to weld much better. I've been using .035 from a 2 lb and a 10 lb spool because that what they had. Then Iused another 2 lb .035 because I had some stuff I had to finish that night and they didn't have .030 tips. FINALLY got a 10 lb spool .030 and new tips and it welds awesome, smooth and I think it burns in better. My bumpers I'm making with .030 look better and I dont have to grind the bulk of the welds to make it look as good as when I was using .035.

.035 would not look this good (with me doing it anyways! /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif)

    another .030 shot (1/4" to 3/16")

I prefer the .030 for everything, I'm glad that I'm /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/hack.gif /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grind.gif not the only one who has utterly destroyed sheetmetal trying to weld it with a heavier wire

I hate to admit it, but...I've "cut" thin steel with .035 wire (because I was lazy)...just burned right through /forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

Don't feel bad, thin rusty sheet metal is about the hardest thing to weld. For body repairs .023 is even better, that and cutting back till you find solid metal.
