Well if you read my other post from this morning. I had a noise and a little vibration when driving. I noticed the transfer case leaking. I called up my buddy and he said to bring it over to his shop, so I did. When I got there the noise turned into a knock. The mechanic drove it around the block, and figured out what it was. The transfer case gave out. Now this about the 2nd time this year that I have allready broken down. I'm about to just give up ! After my Mom picked me up from the shop, we stopped at the store and I picked up the new car trader! In it was a 65 VW Bug with new paint, motor, tranny, rims, tires, and interior. I told my Mom about it and she said to call the guy, and I did. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. I think we are going to add another car to the family. Hopefully I can keep the Blazer, but I really need something with good gas mileage.....The Blazer has been a b!tch lately !

OK so you're pisted so you're gonna buy a bug just to run it over w/ your Blazer when it's fixed? LOL
So you think buying a bug is going to give you a reliable car HAHAA! No way... My ex had one and I put more work into that then my drag car! I'd suggest going for a solid low mile V6 for gas milage. I see too many four bangers and cheapie cars in my shop. (Neon, sunfire, escorts, geos, etc etc.)
Otherwise just trade the blazer in for a newer truck. The Vortechs get decent milage. Just my $.02.

i'm with you on that..sometimes you just gotta know when the old girl wants to lay down..I had a beauty of a 87 GMC Jimmy that I just kept pouring money into (3-$400)/month. Finally the timing chain went. They gave me 200 bucks for mine "to put in our junk yard to part out and maybe make a few bucks" I still go and visit her.. 3" lift, tow truck leaf springs in the rear, dick cepek's etc....I still miss that truck, but I have to say that the extra money helps...

VW's are great cars, but if you don't know how to work on them, they can be a pain. They require alot of maintance. If you don't keep up on it, you will problems. Just something to think about.

I know your pain blinker man......I'm on my 3rd truck in 2 months. First my tranny went in my blazer, so i got stuck driving the 85 jeep wagoneer(it's a beast.....i mean it's bad) Then i killed that one probably 2-3 weeks ago(spun a rod.....she still runs but knocks like he!!) So now i'm driving another beater truck a 2 wheel drive s10...this one was my father in-laws beater. Well the first night i had it(after putting new brakes & u-joints on it) the ignition tumbler froze up for some reason....and that was just the begining. After getting stuck in the driveway countless freezing mornings having that pickup bed trying to pass me the other mornings while driving to work and then there's today......dead battery.......I've had just about as much fun as i can stand with this s10..............i want my blazer back.

Dude, watch out before you buy the VW. Yeah they are cool as hell but one of my good friends owns like 4 of them and told me that if you don't know how to work on them don't even consider buying one. They require a sh it load of maintenence. I understand your delima. I have replaced my 1. fuel pump 2. tranny 3.gas tank 4.ignition 5 ignition module 6.suspension 7.shocks 8.distributor 9.driveshaft 10.hubs 11.brakes 12.wheel bearings and multiple other things I can't think of - all this year. i am broke and in debt. but I just keep telling myself that eventually she will be brand new and ANY used car will have problems of their own. Keep your spirits up and you will make the right choice. good luck

Well, I talked to my parents a little more today. They said there are going to keep the Blazer, and help me out on getting another car. If I do get this bug it will be the secong VW in the family. I also have a 58 Bus, so I know what kind of love they need. My lil bro wants to drive the Blazer just to school, so it's a good starter for him. That's what I learned on!

Well I decided to just say F*$& IT, and keep the Blazer for myself. Anyways how does it cost for a transfer case to get rebuilt?

While growing up, my sister had a 65 VW bug for a school car. My dad pulled that motor out 6 or 7 times in 2 years just to repair or replace something. I cant remember what, but just the experience of watching him go thru that was enough for me to say "NO TO BUGS". I had some memories with her in that car. One was, 14 people crammed in it cruising down main street!!! Even had a hot girls ass in my face the whole ride!!!

HEY TRY A JUNK YARD BEFORE YOU GET A REBUILT! IT MIGHT SAVE YOU A FEW HUNDRED BUCKS. IT'S PROBABLY A NP208 AND THEY RANGE FROM $200- $400. A LOT BETTER THAN PAYING $800 BUCKS OR MORE.

Hey,Useyourblinker. We talked before. I live in Hollister. I now of a Blazer in Moss Landing setting in a junk yard. Not exactly sure of the year. But I now it still has the motor and tranny and I believe it still has the transfer case. I think it was rolled. I went there looking for some interior parts. But it was red diamond tuck & roll (YUCK) and all the windows were broken. I also now of a BLAZER setting in a junk yard in San Jose. But I can't remember the name of that junk yard But I do remember where it was at. Private message me. I might be able to call them and find out about the t-case for you. But I need to now your year. And if you want a 208.

man i wouldnt part with my blazer for nothin'!!! She has only let me down once when the starter went out one morning, other than that just routine maintenence. Most of my friends are convinced that i love my blazer more than my family and that when i die they'll be buring me in my 82 K5...
