to go buy the new AFI album. apparently this place down the street is releasing it early.
let me know how it is...i`m think of it...is Miss Murder on it? or is it an older song?
mass murder is on it ... i've had it for a few days.
AFI was great until last album.
im gonna buy it... i love afi!
Colby, are you sleeping with the drummer ?
AFI is awesome but they're turning main freaking stream. *rolls eyes*
that's pretty bold, man. how can a statement like that be made? - pretty broad. michael jackson must suck then - cuz i don't like his music. doesn't matter that he was a really talented singer. i can't say whether i like it or not yet b/c i haven't heard all of it yet. but from what i've heard thus far, i dig it. personally, i like their progressive sound. i can appreciate people who only like one of their sounds tho - and i don't blame you, their old music was sweet too.
nope. just my hot wife.
yeah, i hate it when bands become successful at what they love to do. they should definitely stay super poor, playing in the garage and producing poor quality albums so that a few people can feel like they have something real and organic because no one knows who they are and they haven't been corrupted by high quality production - which definitely kills the real and organic feel by it's far superior sound quality.
not saying i think the music industry is good to their bands tho...
i get so d@mn sick of hearing people say "so and so" sold out. that's so freaking rediculous.
You said that so much better than I was going to, so I just quoted you to reiterate it. Well said.
I was reading AP with my friends today and I saw an ad for my friend's band. I got so excited but I really hope they kind of stay underground. I think the fame gets to peoples' heads and they start making worse music (some bands, not all)
that's really stupid.
... i have too much respect for you colby to do that to one of your threads
Fiine, I'll leave.
no please stay, i`ve done and dont plan on doing anything...
Okey Dokey Pokey.... But I am going to get off when hot boy calls haha
Colby, well worded and level headed reply.
I only said they lost it because it seemed as soon as the last album came out (the one with girls not gray or whatever that song was colled) AFI seemed to lose their edge. They used to thrive on having a little bit of a darker tone and feel to their music, and they lost alot of that when they turned to the mainstream. I won't call them sellouts, but the new album IMHO just isn't what AFI used to be.
I just think a band kinda loses their passion when they get big and famous.
Not saying all, but a lot.
ok, i can see that. i really enjoy sing the sorrow b/c of the complexity of the musical composition - it was very original w/ lots of influences from differnt musical styles. i'll agree that it was a huge step in another direction from their more screamo-punk stuff, but i think they pulled it off well and it came out as a more mature album, in my opinion. still don't have a strong opinion on the new album yet. colby's music reviews will return shortly... j/k
Hahaha i dont think you will find anyone that classed AFI as screamo.
and God called in sick today and Fall Children are perfect examples of AFI's range.
Afi isn't screamo lol...
Does anyone like Poison the Well? The guitarist spit on me.
well, you are entitled to your own wrong opinions. just kidding. i agree that this can happen sometimes - but i think it's difficult for the public to judge that. i think 99% of music listeners have no idea how much record companies own bands - how little power they have. this is often overlooked by a band when they are in the excitement of getting signed b/c someone wants to produce their music. maybe that's why they lose their passion - they are forced to play songs they hate. doesn't mean they sold out or anything - they were just ambitious to be successful with their musical skill (or lack thereof - see nirvana) and made a stupid business decision.
