I decided it was time to get into some kind of shape---other than round:haha:. I hit the gym for the first time yesterday doing all lower body. It hurt when I got home but nothing bad. This morning I could barely walk. So this morning I did some upper body and well ouch. atleast the pain is evened out now.

anybody have good suggestions for sore muscles.

it does feel good though to be exercising again. I just can't wait to get through these first couple painful weeks.

Beer always works for me:D . J/K Stretching and Ibuprofen if really needed. A good stretching is really all it should take and should be performed before and immediatly after the work out.

I know the feeling. A hottub seems to help me. If its your legs, go for a walk. Get everything warm and stay loose.

Eat lots of cheese, and protein. It helps you out tons. To build muscle do it in groups, upper body and abs MWF, legs TR. Your best bet is to stay at it, even if you only go 2 times a week, your body will eventually adapt, and you will feel so much better.

Just keep at it , its good for you . I have been going since February . Haven't lost much more than 10-15 pounds , but I feel better , can feel my muscles with less jiggly stuff around them now , and I have more energy :thumb:

Keep going , if anything you will just extend your life so you can wheel a few more years before they put you in a another wheeled vehicle :waytogo:

yeah deffintly try the protien thing... after a good workout either eat a couple of chicken breasts, or maybe a big can of tuna.. Protien, Motrin, and a good walk helps with lower body.

Eat some banana's. It will add extra Potassium which in turn will keep your muscles from cramping and watch what you eat. You can work out all you want but without a proper diet, your just wasting your time going to the gym. I have been spending about 2 or so hours a day there for the past month or so........

Whats your goal? Tone up or beef up? Alot of times, alot of high rep low weight will tone you faster where low reps high weight will build more muscle but work into the heavy stuff.

Oh and throw some cardio in there. 3 or so miles on the treadmill and 10-15 miles on the bike 3 or so time a week will keep your heart ticking and running good.

Good luck and don't stop because your sore, remember to take a break day, your body will thank you for it.

I'm just trying to get some general fitness. definitly loose a little weight and add some muscle. I really want to be in some kind of decent shape for snowboarding and snowmobiling this winter.

I found a pretty good 12 week plan I like and even better it fits my schedule.
I go monday, tuesday, thursday, friday for weights. But on the days I'm doing upper body I run to the gym-1.5 miles there and another 1.5 back, just a nice jog I have wednesday as a total rest day. and then saturday is cardio day. And right now sunday is up in the air.

I don't plan on stopping. Having raced mountain bikes for 10 years has made me a little twisted...I like the pain--it means progress

Good. Most people go to the gym and get huge and totally forget about cardio. You can be big all you want, but if I can out run you, I will.........

I just want to tone up. Metabolism has slowed WAY DOWN..... so need to maintain and improve on what I have. Working my way back to 10 miles in an hour.....
