Drive 3,400 miles for a vacation and pick up cams' boat? Wichita KS to Redding CA and back. I'd travel through Colorado, Wyoming, Utah on the way. Without any major diversions it's an 11-tank trip in the Jimmy. Bring some camping gear and camp out in a few places, see some CK5 brothers on the way... sounds like a lot of expensive fun.

I love road trips. Sounds like a fun route too. 11 tanks of gas does sound really expensive though. I say if you got the time and the dough, bring a friend and do it.

Yeah, I think it will be more like 15 or so tanks.. forgot about the extra weight I'd be towing back (~3200 lbs).

Straight down I-70 seems the way to go. Come see us here in Western Colorado, I'll take you out on the boat and show you how NOT to catch fish apparently.

It'll have to stay there till atleast November if he gets it. He won't be back from his deployment until sometime in October.

Lets see... at least $900 in gas to get out there and back. Another 4-5 hundred for food and whatnot. $4,000 for a boat, a lot of driving, and a small vacation? Hmm. Not too sure about towing that boat through the mountains though. We'll see.

Which way would You go? I would go to Reno then Head north on 395 to Susanville then take 36 to I5 north to Redding. There are some really nice lakes in the Sierras along Hwy 36.
