I think I'm running about 19 psi now.... what do you guys run or recomend running for highway driving?
The tires are TSL (Bias ply) 38.5x16 on 16.5x12 aluminium wheels.

what is the maximum tire pressure? I would run around 5psi below max with your 16.5x12's. I have 35x16 boggers on 16.5x14's and maximum tire pressure is 30 for them and I run right at about 25to 30 psi on and off road.
Tire pressure depends a lot on your tread and rim width, we are about the same because my boggers are wider than the TSL's but with 14's it's about the same. At 19psi on the highway I am afraid they would run a little hot.

Here is a way to determine proper inflation of your tires.

Get the manufactures tread width information. (in your case it is 13" for standard 38.5*16*xx TSL's)
Drive through a puddle of water at xx PSI and measure the tread with left from the water tracks.
If it is wider than the spec'd tread width inflate the tire, if it is less deflate. This is the best way I know of to determine the correct PSI for the tires your are running. Of coarse if you can't get there with-in the tires MAX PSI you truck is just to damn heavy for the tire. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

An easy way to do it would be to just park on asphalt and get down on the ground and look at your footprint and make sure you are making contact from outside lug to outside lug.
I have a flat footprint and 27psi, sometimes it's nice having wide rims. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
