I found a axle today in the junkyard while on break....I was looking for another D44 8 lug for my rig and spotted this laying in the back of a toyota with a matching 14 bolt...The hub is much bigger than the ones I currently have (about 4.56") but the spring perches are 31 3/4" like my D44. And has a simmilar cover pattern to a D44 I really dint have much time to check the inside out. I will try to get a pic up tonight, I am not sure how much they will show though.

Sounds like a pre '77 D44. They have the big hubs.

The easiest way to ID a Dana 60 is by the 4 bolts, in a square pattern that hold the steering arm in place. (It's 3 bolts in a sort of arc pattern on a 44 or 10-bolt).

I'm with you Harry, sounds like it might be a 60. If it is you better snatch it up before someone else does. I found a 1 ton 4x4 Army ambulance this weekend in a wrecking yard, but the owner said it belongs to the local DEA and they won't sell it. Man you just don't know how excited I got when I noticed that thing sitting there under those trees! What a shame that they would rather let it sit and rot than let someone get some use out of it! By the way, it has 8Koriginal miles!
