Stay away from Genuene Gear(sp?) brand(4WPW brand) I had an opertunity to see a R&P set next to a DanaSpicer set and you can totaly tell the difference in quality and machine work. I have heard good things about Precission (sp?). I bought the DanaSpicer R&P sets when I did my swap.
    Good luck

I've used precision gear and never had any problems and am in the middle of building a new truck and just orded from reider racing, very nice and knowledgable people on the phones. And I ordered it on a friday and they said it would be here tuesday, well a nice surprise it was here on monday. just thought I'd pass that on, not often does a company surprise me in a good way!!!

I use US Gear and they are great...a friend of mine owns a shop and that is all he will use. Richmond makes great gears, but I don't believe they make them for the 14 bolt ff (or maybe that was because I needed the thick gear for my 4.56 ratio - anyways, they didn't have them)

I put Dana/Spicer stuff up front and U.S. Gear in the back. My mechanic said they both "set-up" real nice and he was very happy. He also said Richmond gear is another good one. He said he would refuse to do my truck if I bought Motive Gear...said the stuff was so bad he could barely even install it in another dudes truck.

What ratio are you going with???? Warrantee is the key. Richmond pretty much have no warr...... I believe US Gear,Yukon, and one or two others have lifetime warr. on some of their ring and pinions as long as you buy their install kits. And you will need them if you do any serious offroading. Gears can and every now and then will fail. I can send you pic. of a set of Richmond 5:13's for a ten bolt. They were inspected and said to be set up correctly and failed. Along with a front axel shaft at the same time. They were on a Detroit. So even the best fail!!!!!! So just really look in to your product info before purchase. Thats just my .02 worth though.

Precison gear and Richmond have been excellent for me thus far. No real problem yet. And I have put some serious BBC power to them on slicks and that is dang near as nasty as anything you'll see out there... at least from your offroading description.
