When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Did you ever become that?

I wanted to be an airline pilot, instead I'm just a dumb truck driver.

    Anyone else? :ears:

When I could remember until we moved to Arizona , I wanted to be a Detroit Tiger .

When I was in my teens I wanted to be a mechanic .

After bouncing around a bit , I found I am really good at running an appliance parts store .

Pays the bills , and with good financial decisions by my wife and I , we do allright .

I wanted to grow up to be a perfect reflection of my father.

No, that's what I ended up as.

I wanted to be an airline pilot as well.

When I was real young, I wanted to be a veterinarian.. when I hit junior high, I wanted to be a psychologist. ( I had to figure out my screwed up family).

Almost did the psychologist thing..was going to school for it in my mid 20's, but then I got diverted by running my headhunting business.

Now, I still do the counseling thing ( unofficially, of course) , and I get to use what I've learned in the businesses I have now.

I was lucky, I have some friends in the psychology profession, so I still have access to the latest books and stuff.

When I was in gradeschool I wanted to open up and own my own art store.

In high school I wanted my own 4x4 shop/parts store/wrecking yard.

And then theres my everlasting goal to have the Mountain Explorers Mall... with a big 4x4/classic car shop that does mechanical and body work, a store for new and used parts and aftermarket accessories, a wrecking yard, an art store and painting gallery, an outdoors supply store/sporting goods, a tire shop and new/used tire retail store, snowplowing and towing services and an impound yard, building supply and lumber retail store, gas station, food and drink mart...

And an ORV park, race track and mud bog lanes out back set up with stadium lights and specatator stands capable of hosting monster truck shows and other large 4x4 events and races. And this all in one location.

But I don't think all that is quite do-able. It's fun to dream though.

Say what you'd like... but when I grow up (if I do actually grow up) I just wanna be a good Christian and a good husband... nothing else really matters.

Growing up my parents always told me I could be anything I wanted to be so I came up with three life goals. Become a cowboy:laugh: , a killer whale:o , or a large oak dining chair:crazy: . I still can remember the arguments with my parents as they tried to explain what was possible and what was not:( .

I'm fairly certain you have accomplished one of your goals, now you just need to get married. ;)

In high school I wanted to be a tattoo artist, made my own 'jailhouse' machine and everything, that wore off and I had my heart set on being a Gunsmith. Now I am an electrician, but I do a fair bit of hobby gunsmithing on my own.

My Q was "Want to be? Whats wrong with me now?" I can draw very well, did some school but unless you're the .5%, I am not an artist. Also, I was always taking everything apart to reconstruct the process that made it. Used to pass TRW all the time as a kid, totally clueless. Started there in '79, retiring from Boeing in 2010, 30 years spacecraft engineer.:haha:
