now that i've got a nice lift, i've discovered that the front driveshaft rubs severely on the exhaust pipe. i was thinking of moving it up, or just crimping the pipe under the shaft. what have you done with this problem? getting duals would solve it, but not sure i want to spend all the money on that. btw, this is for an 87 k5.

Go to the muffler shop and have them extend it. Costs about $40.00. Don't let it stay like that. I did and it took out my front CV joint.................Dan

If it ain't broke.......Don't fix it....

dual exhaust worked for me, and it is worth the cashola, you can get a kit from summit for 100 dolla plus a muffler 30 -60 so for 175 or so and a few hours under the Blazer she'll sound better and like you said problem solved

I agree with Larry...........GO TO DUALS!!!!!!!! My 84 isn't lifted, but my crossover pipe started cracking along the seam. A local muffler guy tried to seal it up a couple times with his welder but it didn't work. I solved the problem by going to a dual setup. MAN, what a difference!!!!![IMG]

Just so you know, I paid $300 for everything. I went with 2 1/4" pipes and Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers. That figure is in CDN funds, so I bet you could get it done for cheaper south of the border.

dual exaust and headers, ...the only way to go.
Do it right the first time, instead of wasting your money
2 half to 3 inch and headman headers.

Cost me $43 to have a new pipe bent and put in to clear. I did not want duals because of having more suff under the truck to bounce off of rocks. I have an 89 with a Catco converter and a Flowmaster Force 2 cat back single exhaust. I have no plans for headers or anything fancy.

I extended the pipe below the driveshaft a couple inches, works great! but I agree with the dual exhaust thing. If you have the money.

I had my Y moved in back of the T-case (Modifed Short shaft Kit also). I didn't want it hanging down and couldn't run duels. I can post some pics if anyone is intrested...

nope I would do it if you want just for leak proofing etc. Otherwise the kit comes with clamps it all fits together really nice, there are two kits one for headers, so you dont need reducers and one for manifolds. Also make sure you get the 4x version as summit screwed up and sent the 4x2 version, otherwise it great, oh and I got the Hooker exhaust kit I think there are some otherbrands too though but should not be more than 100 - 120 for it. I also got a balance kit for a few extra dollars, well worth it.
