are you adding a lot of oil lately? coolant? could be bad valve guides, bad rings, blown head gasket................

Are you sure its white and not blue?
If so, sounds like you have a bad head gasket or a cracked head. White is usually water turning to steam. Check your radiator and see if its full. Also, remove your oil filler cap and see if theres a milky film there. Also, put your hand close to the exhaust (well after its warmed up) and see if theres moisture. If you run anti-freeze usually a sweet smell also.

If its blue or white-blue, its oil

If white smoke is pouring out then you have a blown head gaske or a cracked head. I wouldn't be surprised if you get a little hesitation too, that happens sometimes too with a blown head gasket.

Kinda looks bluish to me too.
    If your lucky, valve guides.
Should blow smoke when first started after sitting for 30min or more. Otherwise its rings. Do a compression check.
But verify if its white or bluish.
Either way, looks like your going to be at least pulling the heads /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

dis- able the ignition take a plug out of the cylinder, hook up the comp.checker (screws into the plug hole)turn it over acouple of times and observe the pressure.do all four cylinders on that side and look for an pretty even pressure readings.if you have two side by side that are low the head gasket could be blown between those two. if one is low it could be blown into the water side of the motor.......

454 = valve guildes. Every 454 I've had, has need valve guides at one time or another. Sounds like yours is just starting to get there.
