What do you think about these 20\" tires?

Looking at getting some beadlocks and bigger tires. I found these in the $125-150 range. They are 12.5x20 and are made by Michilen. They are DOT approved and have a 41" diameter /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif.
Any one have experience with these tires?

Military tire, I think used on USMC LAV 25's. I can't really say anything more about them, other than the LAV's rode real smooth. The tire would have to stand up to alot of abuse for the military to use them. I think that is the same tread pattern as the larger 48" and 52" mil. tires.

they are michlien Xl's and they pretty much kick ass. Deep tread and strong construction, after all thier made for heavy vehicles that have to survive off road.

How much tread is their left on the tire for that much coin? I've been debating on getting the same size myself in that XL tread pattern with some 20 inch double beadlocks.
Only thing that concerns me would be how hard the ride is. It has a load rating of 'F' which is a pretty stiff tire compared too my load range of 'C' that I have now. Also I wonder how well they flex when aired down?

Yeah, I want some beadlocks, but not for the 16" tires I have. Looking at getting either the 20" or 17" beaklocks. Know anyone that might be interested in a nearly new set of 38"s on the MT Classic II's?

The attached picture is all the information I have right now. They are in the DFW area, maybe close to you /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif. Aren't you down in that area?

Anyway from the sound of the reply's, they are a decent riding tire with a good tread design, even being rated at 4400lbs. May be worth a look...

Yeah about 2 hours east of DFW, If you could send me the contact info I would be willing too go look at them for both of us or anyone else for that matter. I've really been considering these over the past 2 months, cause I'm not too happy with the SX's on my daily driver /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Just let me know and I will check them out /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: What do you think about these 20\" tires?

Problem with the the large tires in 20's is wheel availablity. The tires might be cheap, but the wheels dam sure aren't. If you can find a good deal on some wheels, the you would be set. The only person I know of selling the beadlocked 20's is Johns351c on PBB. He turns out some good stuff. Trailreadys are junk.

Re: What do you think about these 20\" tires?

That was my next question. Where can I get some wheels?USA6X6 has two piece wheels in a couple different designs for $225 each. I am not familiar with the durability of the two piece design. Anyone have insight on this?

Do you have a link to what his wheels look like and how they are made? I have seen a few post on the PBB where he has talked about the 20" beadlocks but don't remeber seeing them.

DP90K5-The ones usa6x6 has look alright but I would worry about the two halves being held together by the small screws I see in the pic. Plus the beadlock is another 40.00 per wheel.

Re: What do you think about these 20\" tires?

I aggree about the small screws. But I have no experience with two piece wheels. Here's a poor pic of Johns351C 20" beadlock wheel. Maybe someone has a better pic or link.
