What tools are needed to regear Dana 60 front?? I've heard something about a case spreader. what is that?? Are there any good online articles about regearing this axle?? The most I've ever done on an axle is replace the outer u-joints, but you gotta learn somehow! Any help or advice is appreciated.

Where I worked, Dana axles got set up all the time without a case spreader... all it does is stress the center section a little so the ring gear and case are easier to remove. A prybar works too. (Watch your feet!)

Sticking it back together can be accomplished with a large soft-faced hammer. Of course it usually takes a few tries with the shims to get it right. Good upper body workout - especially when its a D60 or D70. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
