I just found a 1978 one ton truck for sale cheap. I found it coming out of walmart posted the classified board as "best offer". Guy said the city is going to tow it soon so the first $225 takes it, going to look at it tomorrow morning. Any ideas if this would be a D44 or D60 front end? I'm guessing the rear is a 14 bolt. otherwise it is a 350/th400/np203 combo. engine has 30,000 and tranny has 1,500. But i'm only interested in the transfercase and axels. thanks

If its a 1 ton it should be a Dana 60. I'd make sure it is a Dana 60 though, too many people selling trucks don't know the difference and call Dana 44's 1 ton front ends.[IMG]

    thats an awesome deal.
then u can sell all the other parts on the internet and make $$
you could easily make the 225$ back by selling parts

Just came back from looking at the truck, it was a 3/4 ton with a heavier rearaxle in it. I'M not sure what type but the yoke for the drive shaft had bolts that attached it to the axle housing. The front axle was a D44 unsure of what gears were in them tags were gone n axle and glove box. I have to figure out if i want to buy this thing for just the tranny and
X-case. thanks for the help. erik
