Hey guys I am new to this site....very cool informative site. I am putting some 37 or 38 inch tires on my blazer. Im prolly gonna get a 14 bolt. What gear ratio should I get? I will drive on the road and then do a little mudding. Im not gonna climb mountains or rocks or anything like that.

For street and mud I'd go 4.10...plenty easier to find a 14 bolt with 4.10's too.

I had 3.08's with a crappy 305 running 35's and I had almost no acceleration, it sucked horribly. I changed out to 4.56 and it has some decent accel. But if your engine is decent; then like mudhog said, no overdrive-get 4.56, overdrive- get 4.88's and if you ever plan to go 44 or something go for 5.13's /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

I'm planning on running 39.5 boggers and 5.13 gears. I'd go lower if the 14 bolt could take lower gears.

Still less rpm than a stock truck with 4.10s and a TH400!
All your older 3/4 & 1 tons usually run in the 3000-3300 rpm going down the highway @ 70mph.
I ran a 4sp equipped blazer with 4.10s and 38.5s, would have preffered 4.88s on the road.
