What happens to all the 20\" IFS lift trucks when the gee whiz is gone?

The post about the :rainbow: 100k H2 makes me wonder what will happen to it and its brethen when the gee whiz is gone. You know, the radio knob breaks off, the dash gets a little crack, and all that chrome junk starts rustings.
What do people do with these things? No one wants them. Are these guys just out all that money or what?
I see the big lift IFS trucks/H2 etc. quite a bit and can't see anyone wanting them used/in need of repair.

They might finally get a solid front axle under them and used like they are supposed to be used. I wonder what a H2 will be going for in 10 to 15 years? I might be able to afford one then. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I think they'll hold thier value. Like any exotic car which is how I regard those vehicles. Not a serious vehicle in my eyes.

that H2 is as narrow and tall as the real deal is wide n low.
once again I do not understand how they find people to buy these things(Aztec,Prowler,PTcruiser,Avalanche)

Have ya'all ever driven anything "new" ?

They are friggin nice rides... Really, they are impressive.

Allthough, I'm well aware of the "anti-new-stuff" attitude that runs rampid around here. The new-stuff does everthing our clasic detriot iron dinosaurs do - but better.
Yeah- sure.. the new rigs might not be able to 'wheel to the same degree, that doesn't really matter- since 4-wheeling will 'prolly be out-lawed in five or six years anyway.

yes i drive "new" stuff. I have driving top end BMW's, race cars, rally cars, etc.

My statements on the H2 after A TEST DRIVE OF IT AND 3 OTHER CARS IN ITS CLASS still hold true.

the $60000 suburban crew bus lasted a couple of months on the oilrig job.
interior panels fell off, stupid trim parts fell off
rugrats would make short work of it. well before payments were done it would be beat

I've got a $50,000 D/A "crew bus"...that m RUGRATS have been in for 15 months, and 50K miles...nada piece of trim on that has faded/coming off etc..my RUGRATS rode in it to/fro Florida .......also had a $40,000 Suburban "crew bus" that my RUGRATS were in for 4 years- nada problem with ANY piece of trim on it........wonder how they could get so many "mom's" to continue to purchase these "crew buses" if they were not "RUGRAT proof"...as you know, historically, mom's have historically been less apt to toss money at a rig .....that is in comparison to the "dads"...

I'll stick with my overly priced, trim droping, dash cracking, plastic fading, IFS riding, lumbar supporting, dual a/c zone coolin, memory seat sitting ride....that is until I trade it in for ANOTHER one.

its not just what is new is what people want. it is all done by finding out what the people want, then making it. people like myself like the prowler, the avalanch and some of the other odd looking cars out there. car makers try to tend to all types of people. but they do put out some cars that are geared just to a group. like the PT cruiser, and the H2.

Re: What happens to all the 20\" IFS lift trucks when the gee whiz is gone?

Hey Twiz, long time no read... I gotta agree. The new stuff isn't for playing and beating on. Not yet. I *love* my '02 2500HD 4x4. I have no intention of taking that rig on any serious trail for a very long time to come. That's what the truggy is for. However, I do use/need 4x4. I just completed a very long trip on roughly 900 miles of icy roads where there was (for the most part) nothing else moving on much of it. It does what I wanted it to do VERY well (towing, comfy, power out the but, and power to 3 wheels when I need it).

That said, I still can't understand the H2, Blackwood, Escalade, and Avalanche crowd... But that's just my opinion and view...
