    that switch is part of the lock up system for the torque
    converter. controls when the converter locks and unlocks when driving.

    Yep, what 84K5BD said. That vacuum switch is part of the lockup converter circuit for a 700R4. It went away in '87 when the engine management computer took over its function. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

    the torque convertor will never lock up and, over time, will burn up the convertor
