It looks like he might be burning a bit of oil...what do the other plugs look like?

.... and people wonder why I drop the 99 cents/ea, and buy new plugs once a year....

Must big a big engine to fit that plus. Seriously, if it's white it is usually antifreeze.

That's an ash deposit. Bad gas, fuel additives and oil as well would cause this.

Okay...this is directly from the Haynes Manual in there "Common Spark Plug conditions" section in the back...

The picture you have looks most like ash deposits...
"Symptoms: Light brown deposits encrusted on the side or center electrodes or both. Derived from oil and/or fuel additives. Excessive amounts may mask spark, causing misfiring and hesitiation during acceleration"

"Recommendation: If excessiv deposits accumulate over a short time or low mileage, install new valve guide seals to prevent seepage of oil into the combustion chamber. Also try changing gasoline brands."

Ash deposits. I had the exact same thing with my truck. #3, 5 & 7 cylinders. IT's cause by leaking valve guide/stem seals. Haynes says changing them will cure the problem. It also says low octane fuel may cause it too but they lean more towards the seals. Hope this helps.

Ash is right on. Definetely not antifreeze or water. That looks like some took a steam cleaner to (in essence that's what happens)
