What kind of alarm are y\'all running?

With my new mods to my baby, I would hate to have to spend time in jail for murdering a slug for screwing with her. So, I want to try and prevent that situation from occurring. What kind of alarm are you guys running? I want a basic one that has the ability to operate my power locks from the remote. I noticed Crutchfield has a decent one for $99 (Crime Guard 328i3) and another one for $149 (Crime Guard 533i3).

    What do you guys run?

If I do have to set someone straight, Texas style, would that be considered an act of passion and qualify me for temporary insanity?!?

Stay away from Crutchfield, they are overpriced... find the alarm you like on there and buy else where... trust me you will find it for less all over the place and for what they charge you could get a better alarm else where.... I have a BullDog talking alarm... it's funny scares people when it talks to them... cuz it's this whinny chick... "Officer help me!" Then I got a little battery powered motion detector if you do a search on I posted about this last week that's floating around... I also have a steering wheel locking device... it's a joke but it lets out a nice ear piercing sound... so I keep it... another good thing to buy is something to make the locks slim jim proof... They can't punch out your locks either if you attach on the inside of the door panel some metal again the lock... so that way they can pound and break it but not totally punch it out... anyhow... I am currently looking for ideas on how to proof the thief window, I mean wing window... any ideas anyone there since this is the prime spot for a break in...?

I removed my quote so gay, vegetarian, minority, eco-nazis who love Jesus, nuke spotted owls, vote Gore and smoke medical marijuana won't be offend.

I think a big dog is the best bet. I wish it were cooler here or I really would leave her in the truck. The stereo got stolen out of the camaro yesterday right in front of our house. They were a couple of dumbasses though cause they took stuff that was old and worked only half the time. Dumbasses [IMG].
A buddy of mine is working on designing a deadbolt that goes through the bottom of the door. They can beat the locks out, go thru the vent window, what ever but they still aren't gonna get that door open. I've got to fix the back window so it'll lock. That's too easy.

    I've got a mind like a . . . a . . . what's that thing called?

I was thinking about an alarm but haven't done it.

What I've done so far is get the truck appraised and insured it for replacement value. A bit on the pricey side but at least if someone takes it I'll get the cash to build a better new one :)

Viper with auto door locks feature................starter kill, etc. Good alarm, can also be made to roll your windows up, etc........but all I wanted working was the door lock, so now i have 'keyless entry' like a new SUV.........lol. Anyway, PM DBLAZER, he is the resident expert on alarms/stereos.......he can guide ya, and he is somewhat local to you in Texas.

If a pro thief wants our trucks he will get it..............but what pro wants an old Blazer............mostly what we have to deal with is maggot pond scum kids.

An Old A$$ Carbine here, but it will do the doors and goes off when the doors open. Got it of fixing an amp about 6 years ago and just put it in the K5 about 2 weeks ago.

Since you're in Texas, check out the "Nocturnal Mischeif" law there. Last I knew, it was legal to shoot anyone in the state of Texas that was in the process of stealing or harming your property, as long as it's after dark. [IMG] They don't have to be in your house or threatening your life. [IMG]

My last alarm system was a Code Alarm with the tie-in to the power door locks. It worked great!

LOL!!!I was thinking about how cool it would be if I could hook a hot wire up to the outter shell of the truck, hince BIG surprise when you go to grab the door handle. But I'd get put in jail for that Im sure. [IMG]

I've got a Clifford in mine. It operates the doorlocks and has a starter kill. It has the basic shock sensor and door/hood/tailgate switches. But I also added a motion/proximity senor for when my top is off. If anyone reaches over to grab anything it'll set it off. The only problem is getting it positioned right so its not too sensitive.

Urban Legend, or not, this is a cool story. I heard of a guy once that put a row of razor blades under his dash...just out of sight right by his stereo. He came out one day and saw the door partway open on his truck. Said there was blood all over the floor, but his stereo was still there.

Re: What kind of alarm are y\'all running?

I agree- Crutchfield is a little overpriced. I ended up going with a Python 1000 ESP alarm with a proximity sensor for when the tops off. Very impressed with it so far! Only real trouble was positioning the prox sensor in a place where it wasn't too sensitive, and wasn't blocked by the center console. Make sure you get an alarm with its own seperate back up power supply though, since its easy for a thief to get under the vehicle and cut your battery ground
