    Pennzoil 10/30
and I eithe have 120,000 miles or 220,000 miles. I'm really inclined to believe its 120,000 miles though. It's really clean for a '76.

For some reason (which I can't remember) I switched from Quaker State to Penzoil when I built my motor in 94. I have used nothing but Penzoil 10W30 in all my vehicles since then. I also will only use Penzoil ATF in my trannies. Haven't had any problems with Penzoil.

Re: What oil do you guy\'s/gal\'s use?

    (snip) Why does everybody use 10/40 - 10/30 ?
I have always used the heavy 30 weight? (snip)

Typically straight 30 weight is considered Diesel oil and if you look at the rating it is rated as such (various different detergents as well as a different heat rating, most people don't know what all those letters and number on the bottle mean). Multi viscosity oil is generaly considered more palletable for petro engines because of increased top end and startup oiling on a cold engine. That being said I ran straight W30 for years without any problems what so ever. It really comes down to what type of climate you live in. For this area (the valley) we don't see a big variation in temperature or extreme temps either.

More importantly than what kind of oil is changing it regularly..every 3K or 3 months. I know that alot of newer cars with tell you that you only need to change every 5K but I still would go every 3K. As cars become more efficent the need for oil changes becomes less frequent (most oil break down is cause by contamination from blow by gasses) but I figure for the amount it costs me to change my oil I consider it an ounce of prevention.

It used to crack me up with I would go to the refinery with my pop to pick up oil and I would see all kinds of different brands of oil coming out of the same place with different labels.

    Valveline(sp?) 10/40 & Wix filters
I perrty much change my oil before every road trip(almost).
My K5 is not a daily driver so don't really track the milage between changes but I know it's way below 3K.
I don't think it realy matters what oil you use(well besides the super cheep crap) as long as it get changed frequently yer good to go.....

    Valveline 90w
I heard rumors about the Sta-Lube brand not holding up to the heat verywell and it was recomended to use any 'major' brand instead...?? Don't have any first hand experiance with Sta-Lube causing an issue but I figured I can't go wron with Valveline so........
