What size apindle nut socket for a \'73 D44?

Subject says it all. I need to replace my front wheel bearings tomorrow, and I need to get the tools together so I can make sure I have no uncalled for snags. I have two Chicago Rawhide "Wheel bearing kit w/ seal" on order from Kragen. I sure hope this puppy comes with inner/outer bearings and races. Parts store guy had no answers for me, of course. The only tool I don't have is the spindle nut socket, and the parts store guy again couldn't tell me which one I need. Hopefully one of you can help me out. Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

Is that all? Sounds easy. All the four prong sockets at my closest store wre BIG, like 2 1/2" diameter. I'm looking for something closer to 1" or so, correct?

....for a 10 bolt the spindle nuts are the 4 prong style and i thought d44 were the same, and that sockets about 2.5"....

Hmmm... yesterday, after I heard some "suspicious sounds" coming from my front driver side wheel, I popped the hubcap, then the lockring. Then the large chunk of metal that is splined inside and out came popping out (luckily I had placed a towel on the ground, which it landed on, luckily) then I pulled the spring out and looked inside. I thought the nut looked to be 1-1 1/2" in dia. maybe I better go look at an exploded hub diagram. Where's that LMC cataloge....

BTW thanks for the replies, Confedneck, Beast, Heavy /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
