I am running 3s and was wondering what stock gear ratio would be best for this application, 2.73, 3.08, or 3.42? Thanks

I take it you are running 33's? I would shoot for the 3.42's............ if not the 3.08's wouldn't be bad, but stay awiting from the 2.73's unless you are trying to get you K5 to go 180mph!

With a 700R4 OD tranny and 33 inch tires, the lower the better. 4.10s would be best. With 3.42s, you will only use OD at 70mph plus. Anything higher, and you will never use OD.

i have have 3.42 with a 700R4 OD tranny and 33 inch tires, If you want a 3.42 I might be getting rid of mine. because i have a boat to tow. If your going to be driving on the highway you might be ok, with a 3.42, if it is not that hill However, if it is hill then and you plan on driving at 65 you will never get to OD.

I have 33s with a 700 and 3.42s. I kind of like it, all the advice given about overdrive and speeds are dead on accurate. I believe 3.73s to 4.10 would be the best range for that combo.....js

I have 3:73's , a SM465 and I roll on 33's and I think my truck is a bit slugish! I would like to go to 4:11's but I have a lot of other things to fix on my 72 first.

Like 72Blazerod, I have 33s, SM465 and 3.73:1. It rolls down the highway well, but would be alot more fun and easier to drive around town with 4.11:1 rear ratios.

I got 3.42's with 33's and a 700r trans. i would probably drive in In D but it clunks when I slow down around 15 and it burns fluid in D so I drive it in OD. Its not that bad in OD.

i currently have 3.42s a 700r4 and 33s. i undesratnd what it is that you guys are saying about that. The only reason i asked is becuase i am in need of a new rear axle. i have a donar blazer, but its ratio I do not yet know, if it is 3.42, i will just swap the rear, if it is 3.73 i will swap the front and rear, but if it is anythingthing lower like 3.08 it is unusable for me then becuase I have 33s. that why i was asking. thanks alot guys.
