What color is the smoke? Blue, white, or black? Once you figure that out it will give alot better idea of what it could be.

I agree with the seals.. Use the premium ones for replacment, and don't forget the little 'O" rings that seal the spring retainer to the valve stem.. they are usualy the culprit..

Old hard intake gaskets can do it too. leaks oil under high vacuum from inside the lifter valey.. Use OEM gaskets only

Are any of your plugs getting fouled by oil? that burn off can cause it to smoke like that for a few seconds. Mine does the same thing.

No, my plugs are okay. It doesn't happen enough to foul them, and i need to know where the oil is coming from to stop it.

I have heard of people hearing of this! so someone at ck5 must know!

I guess i could giver the old can of no smoke!

It may be fuel. I have a choke gone bad on my Quadra-Jet, and that thing smokes for about the first 30 seconds to two minutes when I first start it(dependant on ambient temp.), because of the rich fuel/air mixture. Black smoke=gas, blue smoke=oil, & white smoke=coolant. Hope this helps.
