opened up the axle to put the lock-right in and i notice there is no bolt for the carrier pin. we end up hammering the pin out and notice there is a metal sleeve in there acting as the bolt---looks like the people before me broke the bolt and used this as a jimmy rig. what should i do? I really don't think thereis a way to put another bolt in it, and im pretty weary about the jimmy rig, and I don't really want to buy a new carrier (how much are they anyway?)

if it's anything like the d44 carrier, it's not gonna have a bolt just that metal sleeve you found. so if you didn't damage it you can put it back and you'll be alright.

or if you want a bolt you can take JUST the carrier to a machine shop and have them drill it out then tap it for a bolt.
honestly, i trust myself enough with a tap and drill to do it myself.
but that is one of my jobs in the marine corps.

The 60 is just like the 44, they both use a roll pin to retain the center pin in the carrier. I think most all of the Dana stuff is like that.

Save a piece of the broken pin to match up when you go to a parts house (also pay attention to the length) - most will not have a clue about what you're doing but will have a roll pin assortment to look through.

Hmmm, well boy do I feel dumb--I didn't realize there was supposed to be the roll pin in there, I thought there was supposed to be a bolt, i will just go and buy a roll pin tomarrow and be done w/ it. Thanks for the insights guys.
