What to do with the \'56 p/u

    hmmmm....

Nick is contemplating a flatbed (since good fenders are hard to find /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif ) with the body primered, and (I think) with the chrome grill, and making it a decent trail rig with a possible exo skeleton.

    /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif ?

    Or, sell it...[IMG]

    It's a GMC, not a chevy btw.

Painted? Yes/no? Leave it primered? What would you do?

If it is a solid truck deffinately don't sell it. I'd say try and do some sort custom bed. Sounds like it is a fun project.

Whatever you two decide to do with it, please put me first in line to buy it, if it comes down to the point that you want to sell it. I promise you it will get a good home. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I have a set of plans for a flatbed I can send you for free. I tried putting it on webshots but it got scaled down in the process so email me for a free copy in high resolution!

Only thing you should do is convert it to 4x4 if not already and tell us where to find the pics!

Check out the pics of my friends nice 56-59 Chevy's (one nice stepside and one flatbed dump). In my webshots album under "other trucks".

I love the GMC grill's better than the Chevy's in that era.

Well, at first it was 2 wheel drive:

But, my hubby and I welded the front half of a blazer frame to the back half of the original frame so now it's a 4 wheel drive. Just finding a bed for it that's decent is a royal PIA!

I'll shoot you an email for those plans /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Definitly looks good! I know of a few trucks of that era stuck in ranch fields around here but have never checked them up close to see if they have been beat to death.

But I will get you those flatbed plans too.
