I need to get the hubs off a truck in the junk yard and have never had them apart befor.once you get the dust cap off, is it just heldin like other hubs(large snapring in the inside of hub pressing out) and a snap ring around the shaft and thats it? /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

Take dust cap off. Then take off EXTERNAL snap ring on end of the stub axle, and take bolts out of drive flange and remove flange. Then, it's jut the nut/locknut and the outer wheel bearing. Very simple.

There are two types of full time hubs. One uses slugs (no bolts) and one uses a drive flange that bolts on. I think slugs go in a hub that takes internal locking hubs and the bolt-on flanges go on a hub that uses the external type locking hubs.

Ok i think i get it now. THe truck im getting the hub from is a 75k5 with 203 and it would have internal locking hubs so there is no bolts. Corecto?

once you get the snap rings out it "should" shoot out of the wheel hub, there is a spring on the back side of the drive flange. it may be held in there if the pervious owner goober'ed it up with bearing grease.

Oh yeha I forgot about that, stupid Brent (jk) only send me the dust caps and the slugs themselves, and not knowing what I was doing, i stuck em in backwards and said, WHHEEEEE D60!

Then fate took away the proverbial gun and told me to read the manual before operating. "Oh this here's the safety and this here's the slide stop"
