I bought a 1973 K-20 for parts a while back and it came with a TH350/205 combo . From what I have learned in 1973 it could be one of three transfercases NP205 / NP203 or a Dana Model 20 , the later being a stripper model usually w/ a three speed manual tranny. Certain years w/ auto's were offered w/ the 203 only but 1973 was not one of them .
Look for the I.D. tag on the front of the case or look for the idler gear shaft cover plate (205) or the HUGE aluminium rear piece that contains the diff in the 203.

It was used in Jeeps /Scouts / old Bronco's and some others.
It was not very popular in the GM trucks but it was offered as a very base line truck in the early years ( late 60's and the early to mid 70's ) . It usually came in a three speed manual tranny and was in a truck w/ little to no options w/ either a 250 six cylinder or a 307 V-8 .
I have seen these in trucks and in the older GM repair manuals .

'73s did come w/ 203s behind the TH350. My K5 & my dad's K10 were both like that. Don't know what else they came with.

That's a 205. In '73, you could get a 203 or a 205. Dana 20 was never used in pickups AFAIK - they were Blazer only as far as GM goes.

Now that I think about it , I think that you are right .... All the trucks ( or K-5's ) that I saw a Dana 20 in were Blazers. I just lumped the trucks and Blazers all together in my head.
I heard of a truck for sale w/ a three speed and a Dana 20 but I never went and saw it for myself so I can't back that up w/ any proof.
    Good catch !

OK, now my next question is:

    Could you get a 205 in a Blazer/Jimmy in '73, or just 203 or D20? I have never heard of a factory 205 in a '73 and up Blazer/Jimmy, except for 1980.

To the best of my knowledge yes . I have seen several 465/205 combo Blazers in the mid seventy's .
I *think* that the ( full time FWD ) 203 was offered as standard equipment and the ( part time FWD )205/D20 was an option that had to be ordered .
In certain years ( around the mid to late seventy's )the 203 was the only t/c offered behind the auto's and like wise the 205 was behind the 465's.
    I have seen the following combo's in the 1973 to 1979 Blazers : TH350/205 - TH350/203 - 3spd/Dana20 - 3spd/205 - 465/203 - 465/205.
Not all were offered every year though.

My bad, I meant with an automatic. You definitely could get a 205 with a 465 manual in most any year.
