i looked at a 1975 crew cab dually tonight. body was in great shape
newer front end clip. it is a gmc, was a diesel but now 454. sm465 D70
interior is descent, but the wiring is all messed up. it ether used to be auto
or just has an auto column in it. (it was dark)
needs trans work, but he said he is willing to throw another one in. no idea on rear end gears
it has BALLS!! i mean BIG ONES to... i really want the truck. tow my blazer and get stuff done round the house
has a goose neck ball in the bed also. tires are good, stock wheels. paint is nice.
leaks oil(what chevy doesnt) clutch needs adjusting. unknown miles, but the motor is recent rebuild... whatever that means
they want 4500, i told them i didnt need another project but i was willing(he chuckled here) to pay 2000...
it needs wiring, that is why i offered so low..

Is it 4wd? If it is it may be worth the 4500, they are quite difficult to find as they didn't produce very many of them, and it would have the sought-after Dana 60 Front end. 2wd versions, however, are a dime a dozen....if the motors new, mabey 2000-3000

I agree. If it is 2WD, you are on target.

Somethings fishy...Deisels were not available in 75. Sounds like it's a 85 or so with a 75 VIN.
On the frame under the driverside is the vin. get it and check it against the vin on the dash. get both and see if you can find somebody with Carfax or call your local PD and ask them to run it. If they don't match is sounds like a hot truck.

i am not sure if it was a diesel or not, that is just what i was told.
it was night time when i looked at it. but i do know it had the newer style fenders on it.
80ish fenders. and front end clip. but it was not factory. the hinges had to be installed via holes fut in firewall.
    i.e. conversion
im not worried about it. i doubt he will go 2k and even if he does i am not sure i could get it anyway.

Well then it is a pre 81 cab if they had to cut the holes for the hinges. I think 82 was the first year for a diesel.
There is a 77 4x4 for sale down by me. My bud just picked up a dually crew and it's nice hauler. Got a camper in the deal. Hauls his 81 sb with it.
