I'm currently in a pissing contest with a neighbor. It has been civil and we(families) associated at one time(6-7months ago). Things were said blah blah blah. Anyway we don't talk to them etc.... This individual has two running but non-roadworth vehicles parked in his front yard titled as antiques(no VA inspection). My wife had commented on the POSs and that's what started the pissing match. My wife has also called the city, etc... on these and he was forced to clean his yard but the trucks remain because they are titled and have valid plates. Antique plates have no expiration. The funny thing is 4 other neighbors have also complained about the trucks.
I believe in retaliation this neighbor called animal control on my indoor/outdoor cat, we knew they would, but also submitted my name and address to an adult toy catalog company. I'll be filing a complaint with the post office shortly, they have a form I filled out to stop these kinds of mailings, but what I'm mad about is he sent my info over the web, lord knows what other info he gave. After I talk with the post office I was going to call the company and let them know what's happening and that they really did not need people doing this to their company and maybe spark them to take some action, I'm almost willing to bet he did it over the internet and believe it can be traced back to them. What do you think? Is this only something that would be pursued if I pushed the issue or do you think the feds are looking for this kind of info? I'm in VA the company is in MN.

It was probably over the internet... But porn/adult product companies aren't well known for superb integrity, so while calling them may not be a bad idea, I wouldn't expect any action to be taken on thier part. I wouldn't be surprised if your info was shared among a few other companies as well.

What do you mean about the feds?

Burn his house down. :weld: :yikes:

There is rarely a winner in these types of situations. Leave them alone, hope that they do the same. If the trucks are an eyesore but legal where they are, your'e screwed IMO.

As far as tracing the internet source of the catalog request, the company can probably do it, but i'm sure that they will just tell you to throw the first one away and take you off of their mailing list.

The only real "victim" here would be the company who was "cheated" out of a catalog. they won't care, nor have they done anything wrong. Just my .02.

I really don't mean to sound like a prick... but just deal with the trucks in the yard. It's really not a big issue. It's their yard, their crap... leave it be. I can't stand people who call about stupid crap like that...

As far as the calling of the animal control and the adult magazine... that's pretty funny. Just leave them and their crap alone and I'm sure they'd be more than happy to do the same for you...

I think it's a matter of common respect for neighbors for him to move the vehicles. I left my orange monstrosity parked out front for a month but I was waiting for the trailer I ordered to be delivered. People have called the cops several times on me for leaving "that thing" out front. BUT, this is a different situtation. He has no intentions of moving them and the value of your property is probably affected because of it.

I don't know of the proper channels to use or if you can even make him move the vehicles, but I'm with you on this one. If they never move and aren't being worked on, they shouldn't be in his front yard.

Can't he just move the stupid things around back?

Instead of setting his house on fire you could always set the trucks on fire. If they are titled legally they have to carry insurance, i think. Then the insurance company would total them and tow them away.

(that might have been too thought out)

I would just say let it be. In my experience, being rude to someone is no way to solve a problem, no matter how you have been treated. You would be better off getting with your neighbors who hate the eyesores too, and proposing to the neighbor with all the vehicles to chip in to have them moved to the back of his property or something.... I dont know... IMO, you would have better luck being civil to the guy than being rude. Hope it works out.

That's right, "You catch more bees with Honey".
You get better results toward your goal when you're nicer to the people that can influence it.

Drop it. All a pissing contest will do is get worse. Deal with it. I do stuff my neighbors don't like and they do things I don't.
BUT... If he really has the cars parked in the YARD....report to the city that he is draining oil into the ground. BIg BIG fines for that.

I have to agree, see if it will fade away if you just ignore it, after that, crap all over his place. :D

As far as the "It's his yard" comments, I agree to some extent. It is his yard, but if possible they should be in the back yard (or behind a fence) just out of common courtesy. Then again it could be a rural area which is more acceptable too. As far as people saying that no one should have a problem with the trucks in the yard, well we're truck people, we do see it that way. I like to be more circumspect about the situation, if the guy next to me wanted to put a sculpture of two guys f*cking in his yard, it'd be OK, right? It is his yard after all. Well, wrong, just cause I'm a truck guy and he's a c*ck guy doesn't mean we want to see each other's hobbies on display.

Nothing wrong with wanting the neighborhood looking clean and tidy.

No c*cks or trucks in the front yard is my motto. :D

Go over, knock on door, tell him strait out; "Here's the deal, we're not getting along, but,..... if you leave us alone, we'll leave you alone." If that doesn't work, then I'm sure we can think up some nasty stuff too do to him.

Start being really friendly or nice and don't do anything in retaliation. Then, they will give up too since "it's no fun anymore" when theres nothing to try and get each other back for. Plus they will probably think you're up to something cause your so nice and then they'll stay paranoid and mind their own business.

Course it doesn't always work that way, but thats what I try to do when people like starting little wars like that. Usually they don't know what to think and then just stop and behave themselves.
