i sold my friend some parts for $200 that would have cost him $600 anywhere else. well a couple weeks later , a different part breaks on my truck and this freind has a this
part and will give it to me for the $200 he owes me. i say ok.
i spend 8 hours and intstall this part and all is well. then two
weeks and 600 miles later , this part breaks internally and i am back to square one. of course he thought this part was good, and didnt think this would happen.
if you were this friend , what would you do?
    1. give me my $200 that you originally owed me forstuff i gave you?
    2. give me half my money originally owed ?
    3. or would you tell me sorry and go about your day ?

I think a deal is a deal. You agreed to take the part in exchange for the $200. You said your friend thought the part was good so *I* would let it pass.
I know these trucks of ours can get expensive. I don't think it's worth ruining a friendship over. It sounds like you both made a fair trade. Sometimes these things happen. Chalk it up as life.

Just because of the friendship part, I'd toss back half, more to help a friend and repay the favor of hooking up the $600 in parts for $200.

I'm guessing he just said "sorry, you're sol."?

i feel the same way you do . i called him and it sounded like i was going to get the "your sol " reply, but then he called
me later last nite ( in the middle of the sopranos aarrgh ! ),
and said he felt bad and was going to make good.

but i was just wondering how everyone else would have handle it.
