Ok I need a daily driver/tow vehicle and I am looking for a 1 ton dually 2wd, 454. I know where I can get an old farm truck from a friend but rust is an issue. Bed is done, doors are done, and I know cab corners, but I do not know about cab supports. If they are rusted out I will keep looking, truck has 250k miles on it, with an SM465 and a 454. I think if I can pick it up for $600 I will do a top end rebuild with headers and RV cam throw the bed out and go. Won't be great on mileage but be the power and capacity I need to haul my K5.

I think $1000-1500 for a good running but rough 1 ton 2wd rig is acceptable.

Not sure about PA but here in the midwest $2K would be top dollar. 250K is a lot for a BB but if it runs good I'd go for it. You could realistically(SP) get $1k if you sold the drivetrain parts seperately so you wouldn't be wasting money.JMHO

    What year is it?
To compare, My buddy paid $2500 for an 85 C30 DRW with 350/465 AC and a dump bed last year.

yeah he wants $1000, I was seeing if I'd be crazy offering $600. Guess I would be. It runs pretty good and doesn't really smoke so I think its pretty good, figure complete head job with porting and chamber polishe job, rv cam, and a new edelbrock intake and just go with it.

Nah, screw it. Show up with $800 cash and offer $600 and see what he says.

    I payed $1400 for my K30, it had 350 TH 400 NP 205 60/14 and I drove it home.

I won't pay 1000 for it, probably offer something like 800.

Never hurts to make the offer. I bought a '75 2wd Suburban three years ago with a decent running 454 and TH400. He wanted $800 for it, I offered $600 and drove it home for that. I drove it for over a year before I pulled it apart. The worst that can happen is that he says no, and you may have to cough up an extra couple hundred or so.

I sold the Suburban motor as a running core for $500 and got $200 for the tranny and $150 for the rear end. If you got it for $600 or even $800, it would be worth it.

I really need a tow vehicle and want a dually, I kind of would like a TH400 but if the price is right it will be hard to say no. I know the doors are shot but I can put my K5 doors on, gives me an excuse to go tube doors.

I just found a 79 K30 dually in the newspaper here for $1500 OBO. Guy says it has a 465/205 and he swapped in a 305. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif All new sheetmetal but needs a bed and a windshield. I'd love to buy it but don't have the cash this close to x-mas or the room at my house.
Perfect tow vehicle if I needed one.

If you decide that an SRW 1 ton is ok, I've got a fuel injected one I might let go.
