I'm looking to swap an 8 lug Dana 44 with 4.10s in place of my 6 lug 44 with 3.73s. What years should I be looking for for bolt in ease? 73 thru 79?

Do the 'first design' and 'second design' front ends come into play here? ie. tie rod on top or bottom? Does it matter?

    Thanks

Any front up to 87 in the p/ups and through 91 in the Blazers and Suburbans, as long as you are swapping the whole assembly. Dana 44's stopped sometime in 77 supposedly. I have seen a 79 and an 80 with factory 44's.

<font color=blue>A 69-72 front end will also bolt up but these have smaller steering u-joints and thinner axle tubes, so stay away from them. If you ever want to do crossover, get a 73-76 so it comes with the flat top passengers side knucle thats getting hard to find.
