What's better- Chilton's or Haynes for a 89 1/2 ton Sub????

    What\'s better- Chilton\'s or Haynes for a 89 1/2 ton Sub????

    Because Haynes seems to suck. It lumps 5 years of cars together and scarcely address straight axles!!!

    To be honest, they both suck. The Helms (gm service) manual is the one to go with. You can find them on ebay fairly often if you keep your eyes open.

    Haynes I like(d) because of the wiring diagrams, but that was about it. As you mention, the year splits are too great, and so the wiring diagrams (for instance) might be different than what you are really dealing with, but at least give you an IDEA of what to look for. Still can be frustrating.

    The factory manuals are far superior to Haynes or Chiltons. You can almost always find them on ebay for 20-30 bucks. Get one for your year, and your set. Wiring diags are seperate, but you can find the real GM ones on ebay too, year specific.
