What\'s better for all around driving MT Baja Claw or SuperSwamper SSR?

These are the tires that I'm looking at purchasing, I know the SSR is relitaveley quiet on road and the Baja suposidley the complete opposite, but what I'm concearned with is if I can push 90 on the freeway with the Bajas and not die.
    I'm looking at getting 35X13.50 with a 15 or 16 inch rim.

Pretty much a no-brainier. The Swampers, which are radials, will ride much better.

I have SSR's and they are excellent. They ride better than most AT tires I've had and fasr better than any mud tire I've tried. I don't have any experience with the claws but if they are anything like the Yokohama Geolandar MT's they will ride rough

I've talked to people with the claws and they do not like the ride on the street or highway.

No compairson. SSR's. The Claws may have a purpose, but it is not highway driving and they can be very dangerous on wet roads. I have a friend who has a set on a p/u which he absolutely hates, he has to park it when it rains.

I have to admit that the SSR's have good street handling abilities and a smooth quiet ride(quiet compared to the TSL's). I don't think i am going to buy them again however, they don't seem to wear all that well and are not as good off road. Not to say they suck, but they are pricey and I would rather go with the TSL's next time around.

OK Bajas are out, but I agree the radials are super expensive for my dwindling budget. I'm kinda leaning toward the TSLs with a sacrifice on road noise and handling. You just can't beat those lugs and that performance. Any input from people who have TSLs?

once the 1-ton conversion is done with... I am gonna use my 35" ProComp MTs for daily driving or going to the beach or whatever.... and some real tires for off-road trips (leaning towards 39.5x15x15 bias TSLs right now). Why not use that kinda approach as opposed to finding the all-in-one tire? I dunno about you, but I dont wanna pay $1k for tires and then grind all the tread off while driving on-roads. Its a fact of life that a good on-road tire ISN'T a good off-road tire and vice versa. Personally, I wouldnt mind running ProComp ATs on my rig for on-road driving time... they are good tires and have a 50k mile warranty... not bad. As the tread wore off, I would be laughing on the inside knowing full well that my 39.5 TSLs were gonna last for a looong time. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif To each their own, I dont know your whole situation or whatever... maybe you dont have the space to store a set of extra tires, maybe you dont wanna buy extra rims or whatever... thats just my take on it. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I totally agree, jekbrown. I just wish they'd make all-terrain radials in a bigger size (like 38x12.50).

I'll never run off-road tires every day again!

I agree Goodyear MTRs are great for all around. I run 35" MTRs on my Jimmy and I can cruise down the freeway over 80 mph with the top off and the doors off and still here my radio. My radio is only two 6x9s and two 4" speakers hooked to the deck. Hop ethat helps
