    K5 is a Blazer/Jimmy (6 lug axles D44/10b front, 10/12b rear)

    K10 is a 1/2 ton pickup/surburban (6 lug axles, same as above)

    K20 is a 3/4 ton pickup/surburban (6 or 8 lug axles D44/10b front 14b semi or full float rear)

    K30 is a 1 ton pickup/surburban (8 lug D60/14b full float rear)

It is a weight thing. Engine sizes and bed styles were an option.

All blazers were K5 till 88 even if they were 2wd. For some reason GM flaked on the Blazer K/C designations. C would be 2wd. However they are also listed as a K10 on a lot of registration/ titles and other places because mechanically they are identical to the K10 trucks. My wifes 79 is registerd as a K10 Blazer. My 75 Jimmy is registered as just a Jimmy.
In 88 the Blazer, Burb, and Crew became designated as "V" so that GM could use the K and C on the new body trucks. Technically this board should be ColoradoV10 because Steve's truck was built after 87. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Must have been swapped in axles and a glued together badge....GM never offered them like that from the factory (in my mind one of the dumbest mistakes - I'd love to buy a burb with all the goodies already in it). Did you know that you couldn't even get a 454 in a 4x4 burb? The 454 was only an option in the 3/4 ton 2WD. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
