    What\'s the difference

What's the difference with a U-joint and a CV-joint ????? Is one stronger then the other ???? If CV-joints are better, could I run all CV's instead of U's ???

when people on here talk about CV joints they are usually refering to a double cardan, which I dont think is really a 'CV' but is commonly called 'CV'
maybe one of the experts will chime in and correct me
CV joints usually have several large balls, captured grooves, between an inner and outer cage

m j is right on the technical differences. What's that car you got, look at the front end on the inside of the wheels, the rubber acordian type boots you will see is what a CV joint really is. The description that m j gave is what you will be seeing if the rubber boot ain't on there.

Here's a link to a page that explains it for you. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif http://www.tpub.com/basae/117.htm

A double cardan joint is a constant velocity design. There are several variations of CV joints. The double cardan is just one of them.

I'm talking about in the driveshafts and in the front axle on a K5. Okay, I may not have the right name of the joints, but I'm sure you'll know what I'm talking about.

We know what your talking about. I think there is a post from maybe a month ago that had some CV tech for the rear shaft.
