OK, here is the deal (In my opinion)
I ran 38.5s on my truck for a long time and I NEVER broke it but they were both open. It's all a matter of how you are on that skinny pedal. If you get stuck and you bounce the truck you will snap something.
If you lock the axles, I wouldn't go that big.(maybe 35's?)
You should always carry spar parts just in case (there cheap).
Don't drop a bunch of $$$ into them either because after you wheel for awhile you will want the security of the better axles and the money spent on the 10Bs is a waste.
If you are buying new tires and rims, you might want to read about shaving calipers etc. (you can do a search for it). If you decide againt it, you may want to buy 16" or 16.5 tires and cheap rims so later you can buy good 8 lug rims if you convert to one ton and reuse the tires.
I wish I knew what I do now thanks to CK5, it would have saved me alot of money.
It's really a matter of how you drive, what kind of wheeling you do (rocks etc.), how much HP you have to help you break them and how well you keep things up.
Hope this helps.
Oh, fill out your Bio so we know what you have and where you are from. I lot of guys here won't help people that can't even fill out some general info on thenselves. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

OK, I have a different opinion... 38s are just too big for 10 bolts, 12 bolts or D44s. You might be able to make the axles live by staying out of the throttle, but you will wear parts out very fast and your brakes will suck. I put on an entirely new brake system trying to make the truck stop well with 38s and I could never quite get there. I'm talking 2 feet on the pedal pushing as hard as I could and I could just barely get the rears to lock up. Other than that the truck drove great. I also put some significant play into a set of Moog ball joints in under 8k miles. The 1/2 ton stuff just is not up to the task of safely supporting the stress that a 38" tire puts on them. IMHO a 36 or a narrow 37 is as big as you should go.

i wouldnt realy whant to go much bigger than 35s on 1/2ton axles. But if you wheel it hard then you may whant to up to 3/4ton axles, alot of my buddies run 3/4 whith 35s and 36s and never have problems.

Zakk, you misread the question, it says "Whats the LARGEST size tires can I run on the stock corporate 10 bolt???" So you could run 66" Firestones like on the Monster trucks. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Just be reeeaaal easy on the gas. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Now the largest size that should be run is different... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

[Stong Bad]Oh! i see what your saying. the cheat runs those big 'ol 150" tall tires, you kno...the one they got on those mine trucks and stuff...anyway, Cheat has them on his Jeep with D30 front and D35 in the back. he just is reaaaaly easy on the gas, which is pretty easy since he can't reach the pedals.
