DBlazer runs an Atlas...I'm pretty sure he beats the hell out of it and likes it. Hopefully he sees this post and can give you more info.

Yeah, supposedly REAL strong too. I have a friend that runs one behind his 510 BBC. Holds up nicely.

    Better for that much cash!!!

I've heard that they're real stout, and they give you the "front wheel drive" option so you can use turning brakes in the rear if you like.

The downside is the limited selection of "only one" low range in the 4.3 (or so) ratio. I find that it's common that I need the 2:1 low that's provided in the Doubler. Like in Sand Dunes or hill climbs.

Actually, I believe there are a couple of low range options available in the Atlas including 4.3:1, 3.8:1, and I think around a 3.0:1.

But as you said, it would be nice to have the option of both the 2.0:1 and 4.0:1 low range like the doubler gives you.

Are Atlas t-cases strictly an aftermarket part, or did they come stock in something? And if they did come stock.... what did they come in? Sorry if I sound dumb, just curious.

There are a few choices of ratios now. I am positive there are two. The 4.3 a buddy has one, and a 3.xx, another friend has one. The one guy bought him self one. And the other guy had one bought for him in exhange for doign a bunch of work on a guys vehicle.

To my knowledge Atlas t-cases are strictly aftermarket, but then again I have been known to be incorrect a time or two.

    Strictly aftermarket.

I didn't think Atlas IIs were built to handle fullsizes, but if Dblazer is having good luck with them, then damn!! [IMG]

The Atlas is made by Advance Adapters and was never available in a new, mainstream production vehicle. You can read all about 'em here: http://atlas-tc.com/ [IMG]

I've heard that the Atlas II will handle a full size but it is pushing the limits of that case. I think the manufacturer even says that in their literature. It really is meant for smaller lighter vehicles like Jeeps.
